Treatment of Stuttering & all Speech and Language Disorders
Welcome from the Director
Welcome, I’m Dr Sarita K Hamall and I would like to send my love and support to each and every one of you during this unprecedented time. Since graduating my Master’s in Speech Pathology in Canada, I have worked in the community specifically delivering treatment to children and providing clinical education to speech therapists. I moved to Newcastle, Australia to complete a PhD in early stuttering at the University. Soon after, I established Little Star to help children remediate all speech and language problems and provide a space for clinicians to grow and excel in their skills.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was an essential but difficult decision to shut our doors temporarily however retain our ‘physical site’ until we can safely re-open our doors. We wanted to make a proactive decision to “do our part” for society, with hopes to be a part of the solution rather than contributing to the spread of this disease. For this reason, we have moved exclusively to Telehealth treatment to protect the clients, families and staff members in the safety of their homes.
My overall experience includes:
• Successful treatment of Preschool and School-Age stuttering clients via face-to-face and Telehealth practices
• Co-taught the workshop entitled, “The Lidcombe Program Treatment for Early Stuttering” in Australia and Canada
• Lectured at Universities in Newcastle and around the world including Taiwan
• Recently published my PhD findings in the Journal of Communication Disorders (2019), entitled “Three Lidcombe Program Clinic Visit options: A Phase II trial
Currently, I spend my time directing Little Star Speech Therapy and provide clinical support to our staff members.
